UTM VC received invitation from Tsukuba University in conjunction with honorary doctorate award to Tun Mahathir

5 November 2018 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid bin Omar and Dean of the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) UTM, Prof. Dr Ali Selamat are currently on a short visit to Tsukuba University (TU), Japan from November 4, 2018.

 

The visit was due to a special invitation by TU president to witness the honorary doctorate ceremony, awarded to Tun Mahathir from the Tsukuba Universiti of Tokyo.

Tsukuba University (TU) is one of UTM’s strategic partnerships under Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT). The collaborations between these universities include global mobility program and Campus-in-Campus (CIC) conceptualized ‘Jukebox’ which were conducted in November 2016.

 

UTM and TU have previously established a Master’s Degree Program for the Master of Sustainability and Environmental Sciences which was launched in August 2017.

MJIIT – UTM Green Engineering and Technology Department with TU Environmental Science Department have collaborated to initiate the program. Students who graduate from this program will receive a joint certificate from UTM and TU.
