mananJOHOR BAHRU, 14 November 2016 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) will be the focus of attention as the hub of Chemical, Energy and Environmental Engineering from 20 to 25 November via back-to-back conferences.

UTM in collaboration with the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) is honoured to host the Regional Conference on Chemical Engineering (RCChE 2016) which to be held at Menara Razak, UTM, Kuala Lumpur on 22nd and 23rd November 2016.

On 23rd to the 25th of November 2016 UTM will organise the International Conference of Low Carbon Asia (ICLCA) 2016 at UTM Kuala Lumpur as well.

ICLCA 2016 is the second in the series after it was initiated in collaboration with LoCARNet (Low Carbon Asia Research Network, Institute of Global Environmental Studies-IGES, Japan) in Johor Bahru in 2015.

The chairman of the RCChE 2016 Organizing Committee, Professor Dr Zainuddin Abdul Manan said, the RCChE 2016 is a platform to share current developments on technology and research pertaining to regional issues of common interest.

The conference is also a platform to publicize research work from ASEAN University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (AUN/SEED-Net) members.

“The RCChE 2016 is an annual convention that provides opportunities for participants to discuss future collaborations and activities related to the chemical engineering field,” he said.

Professor Dr Zainuddin who is also Dean of the UTM Faculty of Chemical & Energy Engineering of UTM said, the theme of the conference “Inspiring ASEAN Sustainability Through Chemical Engineering Innovation” aims to demonstrate the strong partnership and commitment of ASEAN researchers, academic community and stakeholders towards sustainable development.

“In the effort to build capacity and inculcate research and innovation culture among the young generation, the RCChE 2016 will be held in conjunction with the Postgraduate International Symposium on Chemical and Energy Engineering (POISChE 2016).

“During the conference, we have also taken the opportunity to lead and launch an ASEAN Partnership Initiative called ASPIRE – ASEAN Partnership in Research on Energy Sustainability to capitalise on our networks with stakeholders from industries and agencies across ASEAN, with track records in extensive technology transfer and partnership with ASEAN and Asia Pacific Universities,” he cited.
