JOHOR BAHRU, 26 May 2016 – The Institute of Bioproducts Development of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (IBDUTM) in cooperation with the downstream companies, Phyto Biznet Sdn. Bhd. has organized the Wellness Carnival with the aim of bringing the public closer with products produced by this institute.
Various attractive deals are available throughout the duration of the carnival such as product discounts, health talks and health tests. It is also a platform to introduce new products developed by IBD, UTM and this year has seen the pre-launch (soft launch) a nutraceutical product that is a mixture of coffee extract given brand ‘Scholar’s Coffee’.
The Wellness Carnival was launched by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail on the compound of IBD-UTM. Among the main attractions was the product sales carnival of Virgin Coconut Oil, Nur Fatimah Capsule and cosmetic products based on natural ingredients.
The Health talk entitled ‘The Benefits of Virgin Coconut Oil to Health’ was also presented to visitors by Prof. Dr. Mohamad Roji Sarmidi, Deputy Director IBDUTM to explain in detail about the various applications of coconut oil.
Virgin Coconut Oil marketed is among the best in the world and one of the most unique products of IBDUTM has created through a combination of wet and dry process named as Integrated Wet Process to obtain an high nutrient value oil.
The product has been marketed by a UTM downstream company, Phyto Biznet Sdn. Bhd. through the Active Living brand. Until now, the company has commercialized more than 30 products produced through R & D activity conducted in IBDUTM.
