UTM Wins First Place in the Financial Management Category at the Public Sector Innovation Award (AISA) 2015

PUTRAJAYA, 16 December 2015 – UTM was crowned champion in the Financial Management Category at the Public Sector Innovation Award (AISA) 2015. The win enabled UTM to bring home a cash prize of RM150,000.00. The award was presented by Tan Sri Dr Ali bin Hamsa, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia. To receive the award were representatives from UTM comprising Prof. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, Prof. Azlan bin Abdul Rahman, Prof. Dr. Ruzairi bin Haji Abdul Rahim, Prof. Dr. Ali Selamat, Prof. Dr. Shahrin bin Mohammad, Prof. Dr. Nor Azman bin Ismail, Dr. Noorminshah binti A.Iahad, Puan Sharifah ‘Alwiah binti Syed Alwi and Puan Noor Aklima binti Harun. The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak was also present at the award giving ceremony.

UTM competed in the Financial Management Category by submitting 2 financial systems currently used in UTM, namely, UTMFin and RADIS. What is unique about these two systems is their ability to interface or communicate with each other. This has enabled the UTM Financial Management System to be conducted in a more efficient and timely manner.

The Public Sector Innovation Award (AISA) was introduced in 2010 in recognition of the significant impact of innovations implemented by public sector agencies that have contribute to the well-being and prosperity of the nation. AISA is the second highest public service award after the Prime Minister’s Innovation Award (AIPM). AISA focuses on four (4) specific areas of public sector innovation, namely, Financial Management, Information Technology and Communication, Land and District Administration and Local Authorities.
