UTM Developed Urban Walkability Index Analysis Model (PAWDEX) Won Gold at the 2015 Seoul International Invention Fair

November 29 – UTM-ISIIC FAB-FKA team won a Gold Award at SIIF 2015 for the development and commercialization of PAWDEX, an Urban Walkability Index Analysis Model.

PAWDEX has been mainly developed to be used by local government agencies to enhance low-energy and low-emission urban development policies.

The multidisciplinary research team was led by Assoc. Prof Dr. Hasanuddin Lamit. Team members were Dr. Arezou Shafaghat, Dr. Ali Keyvanfar, Dr. Kherun Nita Ali, Prof. Dr. Mohd Zaimi Abd. Majid, and Prof. Dr. Mohd Hamdan Ahmad.

The research project was supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysian Highway Authority (Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia-LLM), Qatar Road Safety Studies Centre (RSSC), and the Institute of Sultan Iskandar (ISI).

SIIF 2015 was hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), and organized by the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA). SIIF 2015 jury is validated and verified by the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA). This year’s event witnessed 525 inventions from 33 nations showcasing their inventions.

 The objective of SIIF 2015 was to invite inventors and innovators from all over the world to promote their inventions and learn about the importance of intellectual property. SIIF 2015 not only gave the platform to display UTM new products but also served as a venue for consultation on commercialization and intellectual property rights for the new market.
