JOHOR BAHRU, 6 July 2015 – A total of 37 students from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) will participate in the Asia Pacific Robot Contest (ROBOCON) 2015 which will take place in Jogjakarta, Indonesia.
The competition will be attended by students of higher learning institutions from around the world. The theme of this year’s competition is ‘Robominton’, which focuses on badminton-playing robots.
UTM team manager, Dr. Mohd Ridzuan Ahmad said, the competition will start as early as August 22, 2015, commencing with ‘test run’ sessions in ensuring that all robots participating in the competition are of a certain standard.
Commenting on the competition, Dr. Mohd Ridzuan said the UTM team will compete in the ‘Double’ category , which involves two types of robots, namely, semi-automatic and automatic.
“There will be three groups representing UTM, and we will try our best to win each of the category,” he said.
According to him, organizers of the competition will also have a ‘Post-Moterm’ session, where all participants can comment on the organization of the event.
