JOHOR BAHRU, 14 June 2015 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on research project collaboration was signed between the Johor Port Authority (Johor Port) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
The memorandum was signed by the Executive Director of the Institute of Sultan Iskandar (ISI), Prof. Dr Mohd. Hamdan Ahmad on behalf of UTM while Johor Port was represented by its General Manager, Muhammad Razif Ahmad.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Prof. Hamdan said that UTM ISI in collaboration with Johor Port will conduct a research on “Hydrodynamic Simulation within the Port Limits of the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) and Establishment of Johor Port Authority Marine Data Centre (MDC)”.
The research, which aims to develop a simulation model of water hydrodynamic conditions at PTP including its impact on the environment, will be financed by Johor Port.
“This project involves UTM ISI mobilizing UTM experts across various disciplines in analyzing a specific context and building a database that will be used to enhance the operations and daily activities of Johor Port,” he said.
The ceremony was held at the Chancellor’s Room, Dewan Sultan Iskandar (DSI) was also attended by the Director of Marine Technology Centre (MTC) UTM, Prof. Ir. Dr. Ab Saman Abdul Kader and also Assistant General Manager (Corporate Services & Development) of Johor Port, Kamaruzaman Hj. Munasir.
The research is expected to be completed within a duration of 18 months, commencing May 1, 2015 ago.
