JOHOR BAHRU, 7 June 2015 – Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia was announced as the winner of the Vice-Chancellor Innovation Award in UTM’s Excellence award ceremony ‘Citra Karisma’ 2015.
This victory was achieved through the Information System of Teaching Practice (ISTP) innovation, developed by the faculty to systematically manage regular and efficient teaching training.
This system has enhanced the process of student registration and placement, the scoring and analysis procedure , as well as honorarium payment to school teacher supervisors.
This system was developed in stages, taking into account the needs of the faculty and external parties.
ISTP was developed by the Faculty of Education with four categories of users in mind, namely, teacher trainees, lecturer supervisors, teacher supervisors, as well as counselors and administrators of the teaching practicum.
The system has been effective in meeting the needs of  2000 trainee teachers, 1500 guidance counselors, 300 lecturer supervisosr and 500 teacher supervisors throughout Malaysia.
The award was presented by the Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato ‘Dr. Yahya Awang to the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Baharuddin Aris. Also at the award giving ceremony were the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Prof. Dr. Azlan Abdul Rahman.
Citra Karisma 2015 also included new award categories like the Community Service Award for high impact community projects and Webometics Award.
In addition, the Young Scientist Award category was also created under the Research Award for encouragement and recognition to young researchers under 35 years of age who have demonstrated outstanding success in R&D.
