JOHOR BAHRU, 19 May 2015 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is one of the Public Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTA) which can contribute towards driving the nation to become more dynamic.
As a Research University (RU), UTM has the facilities and expertise to make more significant contributions to the nation.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Council of Professors (NCP), Professor Datuk Dr. Raduan Che Rose said that since its status as a Research University in 2010, UTM has showed a remarkable achievement.
“UTM’s achievement is particularly notable in several aspects, such as relations with the industry and research in several key areas such as engineering, science and technology.”
“The progress achieved has resulted in UTM able to achieve it graduate focused goal,  with the composition of postgraduate students exceeding those of undergraduates. UTM’s standing has also attracted the interest of international students,” he said.
Prof. Raduan said this in a press conference in conjunction with the NCP courtesy visit to UTM.
Also at the press conference were UTM top management comprising UTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Development, Prof. Dr. Azlan Abdul Rahman and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Mohd Ismail Abd. Aziz.
Speaking on NCP’s visit to UTM, Prof. Raduan said the purpose of the visit was to find opportunities and discuss topics and issues that can be leveraged on, in future strategic cooperation,” he said.
The National Council of Professors (NCP),was established to gather 2,184 professors nationwide to assists the government in solving strategic issues of the country in line with their expertise.
