JOHOR BAHRU, 30 April 2015 – The Site Assessment Audit for the Malaysian Research Assessment Star Rating (MyRA) for 2014 achievement was held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) from 29 to 30 April 2015.
The audit was conducted to verify data submitted by UTM for the Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA) 2014 exercise, with supporting evidence.
Chairman of the Audit Panel, Dato’ Prof. Emeritus Dr. Md. Ikram Mohd Saad said his group was pleased with the achievement of UTM as a Research University (RU) with its orderly MyRA data management.
“UTM has showed excellent performance for postgraduate students under Section D. However, there are some weaknesses that need to be further improved in driving its excellence as a leading research university.”
“To ensure that UTM retains the Research University  status, the involvement of all stakeholders in contributing their research output in MyRA is a very important instrument for enhancing UTM marks in MyRA II,” he said.
The audit panel comprised Dato’ Prof. Emeritus Dr. Muhammad Yahaya, Dato Prof Dr.Mohamed Isa Abdul Majid, Dato Prof. Dr.Mohd.Jamil Maah, Prof Dr.Robuah Yunus and Prof. Dr Che Hassan Che Haron.
Findings of the audit panel were presented at the Senate Hall with the presence of UTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr. Mohd Ismail Abd Aziz.
Also in attendance were two representatives of the RU Task Force, Prof. Dr. Noor Saadah Abd.Rahman and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phua Kia Kien.
UTM Ratings as a research university has a very positive impact on the University and it is in line with the UTM Global Plan 2020.
