LANGKAWI, 18 March 2015 – UTM-IBS in collaboration with the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Malaysia will collaborate in developing programs in Aviation Safety Management (Operation).
The main objective for introducing this program is to assist the nation in enhancing the knowledge and skills of pilots by providing advanced training in flight operation.
UTM-IBS will also provide management related courses alongside the Air Transport Pilot License (Helicopter) [ATPL(H)] training on helicopter pilot cadets. These courses include Management Science in Decision Making, Crew Resource Management, Disaster and Change Management.
Participating pilots will be trained in areas such as Safety Management System (Flight Operation), Air Crash Investigation, and Aviation Psychology.
The programs will be run through smart partnerships with industries and other academic institutions, both locally and internationally. UTM-IBS intends to offer the Aviation Safety Management (Operation) programs by June 2015 at the UTM Kuala Lumpur Campus.
This program also will be conducted in accordance to the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in ensuring that it meets international standards. This will assure that graduates from this program shall be marketable locally and internationally.
UTM-IBS and DCA’s initiative is also inspired by the National Aerospace Blueprint launched by YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in LIMA 1997 in making Malaysia a Centre of Excellence for Aviation. The proposed programs will assist in making the nation a dynamic hub for aviation research, innovation, entrepreneurship and technology development in Malaysia which could be marketed globally.
The signing ceremony were witnessed by YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin bin Mohd Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister, Malaysia and YB Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport, Malaysia.
