JOHOR BAHRU, 2 October 2014 – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ida Idayu Muhamad from Faculty of Chemical Engineering was successfully selected as the winner for the Best of the Best Category in Industrial Art and Technology Exhibition (INATEX) 2014.
Assoc. Prof. Ida received the winning prize from Minister of Education Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh in the opening ceremony of INATEX 2014 held at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, Johor Bahru campus.
Assoc. Prof. Ida who was met after the prize giving ceremony said that this invention consists of microwave assisted encapsulated micro emulsion of natural insect repellent with proven reaction against specific pests/insects.
“The formulated repellent is applied in different forms of packaging and different level of concentration based on the types of protection needed.
“Micro leakage indicator was included for earlier sign of insect penetration with known level of infestation based on the color changes. This approach will give a double active protection,” she said.
With this victory, Prof. Ida brought home cash money worth RM100, 000.00, a trophy and a certificate of appreciation.
INATEX is one of the UTM annual programme organized with the purpose of exhibiting the Research and Development (R&D) products organized by Research Management Centre (RMC) besides acting as a competition for these invention and innovation outputs.
This programme also serves as a platform for UTM researchers to commercialize their research products at a higher level and to form a global intellectual partner’s network together with the industries.
