JOHOR BAHRU, 24 May – The excellent track record of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has been praised by its Chancellor, Her Royal Highness (HRH) Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah.
The acknowledgement was made by HRH Raja Zarith during her opening address at the UTM 52nd Convocation Ceremony which was held at Sultan Iskandar Hall, Johor Bahru campus .
“UTM has forged strategic partnerships with many local and international universities and has conducted numerous academic collaboration with renowned universities, namely Oxford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, Harvard University and several other institutions of higher education in East and West Asia. This strongly proves that UTM has gained recognition globally,” said HRH Raja Zarith.
In terms of ranking, UTM is now ranked 45th in Asia, 10th in ASEAN and 1st in Malaysia for science and technology.
HRH Raja Zarith also expressed admiration towards the Culture Knowledge program initiatives realized through various activities such as inviting renowned scholars as visiting professors, undertaken by the UTM Management team.
“This program is very important as it enables us to gain knowledge and be more aware of latest global issues,” said Raja Zarith.
2,775 graduates, comprising 216 PhDs, 1,200 Master’s degree, 843 Bachelor’s degree and 516 Diplomas (81 UTM and 435 UPPK), received their certificates at the two-day convocation ceremony.
