UTM experts train Afghan universities in OBE and SCL

UTM has been invited to work extensively with the Ministry of Higher Education of Afghanistan in the development on areas such as Modernising Higher Education [Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Student-Centred Learning (SCL), and application of modern technologies in higher education], Quality Assurance, E-Elearning, and Scholarships for Masters and PhD programmes for teachers from public universities in Afghanistan. UTM’s engagement comes as part of a 5-year education plan from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Higher Education, with financial support of the World Bank.

Subsequent to the OBE-SCL training conducted by UTM in November 2015, the Afghan Ministry of Higher Education has invited three experts from UTM , Prof. Dr. Shahrin Bin Mohammad; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairiyah Mohd. Yusof; and Dr. Syed Ahmad Helmi Bin Syed Hassan, and from UiTM Prof. Dr. Siti Hawa Binti Hamzah to conduct advanced level OBE-SCL training, helping the ministry in designing OBE-SCL implementation strategies for the public universities in Afghanistan, and exploring collaboration opportunities of mutual interest between the ministry and UTM.

The training is being conducted from 24th April to 3rd May in Kabul, Afghanistan, where the participants of the training being teachers from various faculties of Afghan public universities.
