COVID-19 has all but turned the world on its sides, calling for certain adjustments to be made, including university governance and student management. Among the recent adaptations, new UTM students had to postpone their physical registration at our university campus.

As hard a decision as it was, there is no compromise when it comes to the health and safety of the students. During this unprecedented time, the Faculty of Science, UTM has been working tirelessly to develop a comprehensive plan to ensure that more than 430 of its new students will have access to a high-quality learning and teaching (L&T). The lecturers have also been equipped with the necessary skills and supports to ensure the L&T activities will be running smoothly and effectively.

Faculty of Science’s Virtual Meeting with New Students

During the Faculty’s virtual meeting with new students, which was held in conjunction with UTM student’s orientation week “Minggu Mesra Mahasiswa”, the Dean emphasized that despite not being physically here with us, we aspire to keep nurturing and cultivating the students. In meeting this challenging time, it has been reiterated that the Faculty of Science will continue to help students navigate the process and ensure a successful start to their university education experience.

For instance, Faculty of Science has established a virtual office via WebEX platform, which provides convenient access to the academic division. Apart from that, a number of student development programmes through MyRoadmap@FS will also be conducted virtually so that our mission to lead in the development of holistic talents and knowledge, will not be compromised.

MyRoadmap@FS Virtual Briefing to the New Students

It is hoped that all the new students, as well as returning students, will stay safe and keep well. The Faculty is looking forward to physically welcome students to the campus again in the near future. In this regard, constant communication will be done for any latest update regarding the campus reopening and academic matters.
