KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7—The Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur successfully organized the First Year Experience 2024 program, themed “Hajimari no Hi” (はじまりの日), which translates to “Day of Beginnings.” This one-day event at Kolej Siswa Jaya (KSJ) provided an engaging platform to help first-year students transition smoothly into university life while familiarizing them with MJIIT’s academic culture and values.
The program featured an inspiring opening remark by MJIIT Dean Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Nurulakmar Abu Husain, followed by a series of engaging activities led by MJIIT students. Participants gained invaluable insights through modules on UTM Graduate Attributes, Support Systems, the Semester System, and the Academic Advisory System, which were presented by distinguished speakers from MJIIT. Additionally, practical workshops on study skills and artificial intelligence (AI) tools equipped students with essential learning techniques.
The ice-breaking session and treasure hunt activity, managed by Dr. Mohd Fitri Yakub, fostered teamwork, friendships, and exploration, facilitating a smooth transition into university life. The program concluded with closing remarks delivered by Dr. Nabilah Zaini, Coordinator of MJIIT, providing students with a deeper understanding of academic expectations, campus resources, and a strong sense of community as they begin their journey at MJIIT.
The Hajimari no Hi program successfully achieved its objectives of preparing first-year students for university life while introducing MJIIT’s values of diligence, innovation, and teamwork. The event also offered a platform for students to connect, engage, and build a robust support network as they embark on their academic journey.
