JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 6 – 32 educators from various higher-educational institutions in Malaysia including Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) researchers joined a day trip to EDUtech Asia 2024 and Science Centre Singapore. This program was organised by National STEM Association (NSA) with the missions to enrich the continuous professional development, besides provides a valuable opportunity to explore innovative teaching and learning practices. Additionally, this event is designed to immerse educators in the latest advancements in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and EdTech.
The EDUtech Asia 2024 was scheduled for November 6-7 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore, will be a major hub for educational innovation. The event will feature over 8,000 participants, including educators, policymakers, and technology providers, with more than 400 speakers delivering insights on topics like artificial intelligence (AI), digital strategy, and sustainability in education. The exhibition will host over 250 leading EdTech companies and start-ups, such as Google for Education, Microsoft, Lenovo, and Samsung, offering attendees a chance to engage with groundbreaking tools and strategies for transforming learning environments.
Key themes include AI in education, differentiated instruction, and STEM integration. Notably, the “Planet Protectors Sustainability Challenge,” backed by Google for Education, will engage student teams to address waste issues, emphasizing the relevance of STEM fields in solving real-world problems. Further, the conference showed how STEM-driven EdTech solutions are enhancing teaching methodologies and preparing students for future innovation. Attendees can also learn from live demos and explore early childhood education projects, highlighting the growing intersection of technology and STEM education in modern curriculum.
Following the Science Centre visit, the group participants enjoyed in experiencing some exciting new features and areas, all deeply integrated with STEM such as Fire Tornado Show. It is a visually impressive and educational exhibit that demonstrates principles of physics and fluid dynamics. This hands-on experience aligns with NSA’s objective to bring theoretical STEM concepts to life through real-world demonstrations.
Overall, the insight trip shows NSA’s commitment leaded by Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Noraini Idris in aligning STEM with hands-on learning experiences and exposure to innovative STEM applications.
