UTM Student Roshini Featured in Astro Awani’s Dialog Anak Muda

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) proudly announces that Roshini, a distinguished alumnus and current postgraduate student, was recently invited to participate in Astro Awani’s Dialog Anak Muda program. The session, titled “HIV di IPTA: Cegah, Saring & Kawal,” brought together young leaders to discuss the urgent issue of HIV/AIDS prevention and management in universities.

Roshini, who earned her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (Bioinformatics) from UTM, is now pursuing her Master’s in the same field. Her academic journey has been marked by a deep focus on bioinformatics and machine learning, which she applies in her advanced research on genetics. These skills are pivotal in analyzing complex biological data and have significantly contributed to her ongoing research on HIV prevention strategies.

During the program, Roshini offered valuable insights on the need for robust prevention, screening, and control measures to curb the spread of HIV within higher education institutions. She stressed the importance of widespread awareness campaigns and educational initiatives to equip students with essential knowledge on HIV/AIDS risks and preventive measures. Her participation underscored the critical role young leaders play in promoting proactive health measures to address public health challenges.

Moreover, Roshini’s contributions showcased the powerful intersection of technology and health sciences. She demonstrated how advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning can deepen our understanding of genetic factors and lead to improved public health outcomes. Her work serves as a testament to how interdisciplinary approaches can offer innovative solutions to pressing global health issues.

Roshini’s involvement in this significant dialogue reflects UTM’s unwavering commitment to nurturing students who excel not only academically but also socially, by actively engaging in global challenges. UTM consistently encourages its students to participate in such impactful activities, fostering an environment where they can apply their expertise to drive meaningful change. The university is proud to support and cultivate future leaders like Roshini, who are making strides in both the scientific and public health communities.
