JOHOR BAHRU – The “Singgah Kasih Mahasiswa (SKM) 4.0” community program brought the spirit of volunteerism and compassion to Masjid Al-Jawahir, Mutiara Rini, Johor. This initiative is a follow-up to the successful “Singgah Kasih Mahasiswa 3.0” held in March 2023. It aimed to raise awareness among Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) students about the important role of volunteerism while providing much-needed assistance to the B40 community, who are among the less fortunate.
Organized by the Persatuan Strategi, Faculty of Management, in collaboration with the Masjid Al-Jawahir committee, SKM 4.0 was a testament to the power of collaborative efforts. The program was held on June 29, 2024, and provided essential items to 40 families at the mosque and through direct home visits. Volunteers dedicated their time and effort to preparing and packaging these items, including food supplies, hygiene products, and other necessities. The distribution process was marked by a formal ceremony and heartfelt home visits, underscoring the genuine care and commitment of the volunteers.
The impact of SKM 4.0 was profound for both the recipients and the volunteers. The aid provided much-needed relief for the families, helping to alleviate their daily struggles. The experience offered invaluable insights into the importance of empathy and community service for the volunteers. The program cultivated a sense of community and solidarity, promoting a culture of giving among UTM students.
The success of SKM 4.0 highlights the critical importance of uniting to address community needs. It serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that through collective effort and compassion, we can build a more caring and supportive society. This program not only made a tangible difference in the lives of the recipients but also inspired a new generation of volunteers eager to continue the legacy of giving and service.
“Singgah Kasih Mahasiswa (SKM) 4.0” is a community program that is a great example of how volunteerism and collaboration can bring about meaningful change. It reminds us that even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact, fostering a more compassionate and united community.
