On July 9th, 2024, the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Komeito party led by Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi, Chief Representative. The delegation also included Ms. Toshiko Kikuchi, Women’s Committee Chair, and Mr. Yasuhiro Nakagawa, Vice Director of the Local Assembly Bureau. Additionally, officials from the Embassy of Japan, including His Excellency Ambassador Takahashi Katsuhiko and representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), were in attendance.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Ts. Dr. Abdul Latif Saleh, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur, along with Prof. Ts. Dr. Ali bin Selamat, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni) and Acting Dean of MJIIT, Prof. Kanao Fukuda, Deputy Dean Internationalization and Liaison of MJIIT, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurulakmar, Deputy Dean Academic of MJIIT.

The visit began with a welcome from Prof. Latif, followed by a greeting from Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi. The agenda included an overview of MJIIT, where Prof. Ali discussed MJIIT’s profile and achievements, particularly in collaboration with Japanese industries and universities. Additionally, Prof. Fukuda explained MJIIT’s unique research laboratories, called iKohza, and showcased the ALGAE iKohza to the officials to provide a real-life view of the concept. The Japanese Language and Cultural Centre at MJIIT was also briefly introduced. An interactive session between the officials and MJIIT students who are learning Japanese at the center was held, during which the officials expressed admiration for the students’ enthusiasm for learning the language and culture, as well as for the overall achievements of MJIIT.

The visit ended with an exchange of gifts as a token of appreciation and a photo session featuring UTM Management and staff members. MJIIT expressed its sincere gratitude to the Member of Parliament of Japan for the visit, which symbolized the strong relationship between Malaysia and Japan, especially between MJIIT and its Japanese counterpart.
