Erasmus+ Malaysia Info Day Empowers Collaborations

On 21st February 2024, the Erasmus+ Malaysia Info Day was held online, attracting an impressive 181 participants from universities across the region. The event was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ariffin Abu Hassan, Erasmus+ National Focal Point (ENFP) Malaysia, who provided an overview of Malaysia’s participation in the program from 2021-2023.

The event featured distinguished speakers who shared their insights on various aspects of Erasmus+. His Excellency Michalis Rokas, Ambassador and Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Malaysia, delivered the welcoming remarks, emphasizing the importance of the program for fostering international collaboration and capacity building.

In the Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) session, Prof. Dr. Rosmini Omar, Dean of Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur, showcased the ASEAN Network for Green Entrepreneurship and Leadership (ANGEL) project as a successful example of Erasmus+ funding. Dr. Marc Chia-Ching Cheng, Executive Director of the EU Centre in Taiwan and ENFP for Taiwan, discussed the Jean Monnet module, highlighting its role in promoting European studies.

The International Credit Mobility (ICM) session was led by Dr. Jenny Lind Elmaco, Key Expert from the European Commission, who provided guidance on the application process and funding opportunities. Dr. Md Ashiqur Rahman, Regional Manager for Asia from the European Commission, presented the Erasmus Mundus Design Measures and Joint Masters, emphasizing their focus on international collaboration and excellence in higher education.
