Boxstroll CGMA be a Part of Premium-Earning Graduate Initiative

As part of its ongoing commitment to producing highly employable graduates, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) student clubs and associations, including the Computer Graphics and Multimedia Association (CGMA), recently hosted a comprehensive upskilling event designed to enhance the skills and career prospects of its students. This initiative is a key component of the university’s Premium-Earning Graduate agenda, which aims to prepare students for high-paying and rewarding careers. The event, which saw participation from a total of 200 students from CGMA, placed a strong emphasis on practical training and real-world applications, drawing enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty. The event concluded with a closing ceremony led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International) (DVCAI), Prof. Dr. Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, featuring his talk, “UTM Leader in Premium-Income Graduate & AI Talent Demands.” Our DVCAI delivered a message about artificial intelligence (AI) talent demands and UTM’s mission to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for successful and fulfilling careers.

The event featured a series of interactive sessions tailored to equip students with both industry-specific and soft skills. The event emphasized the development of critical soft skills including communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.

A highlight of the event was the presence of esteemed guest speakers and experts who shared their knowledge and experience with the attendees. Professionals from computer graphics and multimedia lecturers provided valuable insights into current industry trends and the specific skills needed to excel in various fields. Alumni who have successfully navigated their careers also shared their journeys, offering inspiration and practical advice to current students. The events start with Dr. Norhaida Mohd Suaib with her talk entitled “The student diplomat – spreading university values in the local and global arenas“. Followed by Dr. Pang Yee Yong, to deliver his talk on ‘Internship: A company’s lens on Talent Cultivation and Future Growth’.

Seniors Insights through Past Practical Training

The upskilling event was structured to provide the sharing session from past seniors experience in a variety of critical skill areas during practical training. These sessions were designed to move beyond theoretical knowledge, offering students the opportunity to engage in practical exercises and real-world projects.

The upskilling event has already shown promising results, with graduates expressing increased confidence in their abilities and a greater readiness to enter the job market.
