AHIBS-ACT 2024: A Celebration of Innovation and Inspiration

The Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS) has once again demonstrated its leadership in fostering innovation and collaboration with the successful conclusion of the AHIBS International ACTION Conference (AHIBS-ACT 2024). Held at the UTM Kuala Lumpur from 10 to 12 June 2024, this year’s event brought together thought leaders, industry professionals, academics, and students for three days of insightful sessions, case studies, and networking opportunities under the theme “Act to Impact, Transform to Reform.”

AHIBS-ACT 2024 featured two affiliate international conferences: The International Action Research Conference (IARC 2024) and The ANGEL (ASEAN Network for Green Entrepreneurship and Leadership) – Erasmus+ CBHE International Conference (AIC 2024). IARC 2024 focused on industry research and innovative solutions, fostering collaboration between academia and industry across multidisciplinary fields. Meanwhile, AIC 2024, part of the European Union Grant ERASMUS+ Capacity Building for Higher Education (CBHE) project, centred on green entrepreneurship and leadership, bringing together international partners to promote sustainable practices.

The conference was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Sharil Abdullah, Acting Deputy Director General of Higher Education (Research and Academic) and the opening ceremony was also graced by the His Excellency Mr Timo Goosman, the Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Malaysia and UTM top management.

The conference attracted more than 200 participants, consisting of students, researchers, academicians, industry partners, and also international participants, namely the ANGEL project delegation. It has received sponsorships from international organizations and also AHIBS industry partners.

Among the highlights of the conference was the keynote session, which successfully brought together academic experts, NGOs, and renowned local figures such as Captain Datuk Izham Ismail. The appearance of Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, the CEO of Malaysia Airlines, who shared his experience in transforming MAS into a profitable company, captured the attention of the conference participants. He and his co-speaker, Prof. Dr. Fadhil Md Din, effectively translated the theme ‘ACT to IMPACT’ through their respective experiences. The second keynote session featured Prof. Dr. Susilawati from Sunway University, Puan Khairulbariah Dzunnurin from the Food Aid Foundation, and Dr. Elmos Konis from Hellenic Open University.

During the three-day conference, several activities were organized, including the ANGEL Innovation Competition, research paper presentations, and workshops led by industry experts like Prof. Barjoyai Bardaei. The event also promoted companies and products by AHIBS through an industry showcase.
