UTM Signs Letter of Intent with ERIA to Join Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre

On December 16, 2023, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur, Prof. Dr. Abdul Latif Saleh represented UTM Vice-Chancellor Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail in the signing ceremony of Letter of Intent between UTM and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). This collaboration will place UTM in the network of ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr Saito, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and was held in Tokyo, Japan. The ceremony also marked the 50th anniversary of ASEAN + Japan Collaboration. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Naz’ri Mahrin, Dean of Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics, was also present to celebrate this momentous occasion.

The Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia is an international organization established in 2008 by the leaders of 16 countries in the East Asia Summit (EAS). ERIA’s mission is to contribute to sustainable and inclusive development in the region through high-quality economic research, policy recommendations, and capacity building. The ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre is a network of institutions that aims to promote digital innovation and sustainable economic growth in the region.

UTM’s collaboration with ERIA will place it in the network of this centre, which will provide opportunities for UTM to contribute to the region’s development and collaborate with other institutions in the network.
