Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics (FTIR) successfully organized the Razak Research Week 2023 (RRW 2023) from 23rd to 27th October 2023 at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur Campus. RRW 2023 is an annual event for FTIR, which has been organized since 2018.
The primary objective of RRW 2023 is to cultivate and establish an impactful research culture as well as prepare students and researchers for a global research endeavor. RRW 2023 aimed to ensure the success and sustainability of the university as one of the Research Universities in Malaysia.
This program allows FTIR researchers from four departments: Engineering and Technology, Advanced Informatics, Management Science and Design, and Perdana Policy Studies to work together in synergy. Combining these four departments has created an inter- and trans-disciplinary research opportunity among FTIR researchers. This year’s RRW theme is “Advancing Sustainability through Transdisciplinary Research and Innovation”.
RRW 2023 was officiated by YBrs. Prof. Ts. Dr. Abd Latif Saleh, Pro-Vice-Chancellor UTM Kuala Lumpur. During the opening ceremony, a keynote session entitled “Advancing Sustainability through Transdisciplinary Research & Innovation: A Construction Industry Perspective” was delivered by YBhg. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Gerald Sundaraj, State Director, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) WP Kuala Lumpur.
More than 600 participants, consisting of UTM researchers, staff, students, and the public attended and participated in various RRW2023 activities. There were seven (7) activities conducted during this one-week event, namely Research & Project Poster Competition, Research & Innovation Showcase, Razak Annual Technology, Informatics & Policy Seminar (RATIPS), Postgraduate Research Symposium, Research Seminars, FTIR Research Champions Forum, and Research Explorace.
All the RRW 2023 activities are research and innovation-related activities carried out to expose researchers and students to research and innovation. In addition, it is also to stimulate partnership activities and discussions related to their respective research. RRW 2023 was a significant platform for researchers, staff, and students to showcase their recent works and exchange ideas and knowledge on the latest trends and progress in engineering, technology, science design, informatics, and policy studies.
The finale of RRW 2023 was the award-giving ceremony to all the winners of the research explorace, research poster competition, project poster competition, best postgraduate research symposium awards, and RATIPS 2023 best paper awards. The awards were presented by YBrs. Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Naz’ri Mahrin, Dean of Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics.
