EVOLVE Symposium 2023: Paving the Way for Safer Roads and Smarter Mobility

Distinguishing truth from fiction in Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) has become increasingly daunting. With self-proclaimed experts scattered across the digital landscape and many misconceptions, the need for a guiding beacon to illuminate our path through this electric and autonomous revolution is long overdue.

The Automotive Development Centre (ADC), in partnership with the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), stands poised to reshape this narrative. Our mission is to foster an alliance that not only consolidates and disseminates knowledge but also identifies and cultivates genuine experts in these cutting-edge domains.

A landmark moment in the automotive world transpired on September 15, 2023, at Cyberjaya – the EVOLVE Symposium 2023. This symposium, held in conjunction with ASEAN Road Safety Week 2023, reverberated with the potential to revolutionize road safety.

Under the banner of “Empowering Road Safety Through Electric and Autonomous Vehicles,” the symposium underscored the paramount importance of addressing the confluence of these advanced technologies and road safety. Co-organized by the ADC and MIROS, a Ministry of Transport (MOT) agency, this event convened government representatives, agencies, industry leaders, academic institutions, and media partners.

The primary sponsor of EVOLVE, Cyberview Sdn Bhd, also played a pivotal role in co-organizing ASEAN Road Safety Week (ARSW) 2023. The Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) and the Malaysian Society of Automotive Engineers Malaysia (SAEM) substantially contributed to the symposium’s resounding success.

The EVOLVE Symposium demonstrates both organisers’ and sponsors’ unwavering commitment to addressing the pressing issue of road safety through innovation, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration. It leaves an indelible mark on the road safety landscape for years to come.

Looking ahead, we hope that EVOLVE will return in the coming years, strengthening alliances and centralising the most recent knowledge and resources for the benefit of the nation. ADC hopes to establish its relevance and contribute to the Malaysian automotive industry through this collaboration by venturing into uncharted territory and pushing the boundaries of innovation.

The EVOLVE Symposium masterfully assembled thought leaders, experts, and stakeholders, charting a course through the intricate terrain where electric and autonomous vehicles intersect with road safety. Anchored within UTM’s AIM4STAR Consortium ecosystem, EVOLVE epitomized the Quadruple Helix approach, uniting government agencies, industry titans, academic institutions, and the general public.
The EVOLVE Symposium serves as a testament to the unwavering dedication of organizers and sponsors in tackling the urgent matter of road safety through innovation, knowledge dissemination, and collaborative efforts. It leaves an indelible mark on the road safety landscape, shaping the trajectory for years to come.

Looking ahead, we anticipate the return of EVOLVE in the ensuing years, further strengthening alliances and centralizing the latest knowledge and resources for the betterment of our nation. ADC aspires to solidify its relevance and enhance the Malaysian automotive industry through this partnership, venturing into uncharted territory and pushing the boundaries of innovation.

Undoubtedly, the symposium has laid a sturdy foundation for a more secure and intelligent future of mobility that will unquestionably benefit our beloved Malaysia.

The EVOLVE Symposium stands out as a distinctive event for several compelling reasons:
• A laser focus on electric and autonomous vehicles
• Vigilant combat against misinformation
• A multidisciplinary approach spearheaded by local experts
• The embodiment of the Quadruple Helix approach
• A legacy-building endeavor
• A steadfast commitment to future collaboration
