JOHOR BAHRU, 18th July – The Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE) has successfully organized the Yayasan PETRONAS Coding4All (YPC4A) Module 11 – Prototyping and Fixing event.
This one-day event took place at UTM Makerspace, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, on July 18th, 2023. To kick off the event, participants were introduced to programming with block coding using Tinkercode. my and the TinkerKit electronic kit.
Additionally, they delved into mobile application development using Blynk.io.
Expert facilitation was provided to the participants by FKE’s team, which included lecturers, assistant engineers, postgraduate, and undergraduate students.
They guided the participants in block coding for sensor control, both through mobile phones and laptops, wirelessly.
As a significant contribution to STEM education in the country, PETRONAS established Petrosains, a science exploration exhibition.
The primary aim of Petrosains is to familiarize the community, particularly students, with STEM education and to encourage lifelong learning to nurture educated and knowledgeable citizens.
Petrosains has been implementing YPC4ALL since 2022, spanning from Module 1 to Module 12, across three states in Malaysia: Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak.
In Johor, three chosen schools – SMK Impian Emas, SMK Tan Sri Mohamed Rahmat, and SMK Bandar Uda Utama – have participated in this initiative.
Due to their trust in FKE’s hosting capabilities for Modules 9 and 11, the event was a resounding success. The grand finale of this series is the upcoming MakerFair, tentatively scheduled for August 2023.
