The Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has participated in the 40th Anniversary of the Look East Policy Gala Dinner on 25th February 2023 at MBSA Convention Centre, Shah Alam. Over 700 participants attended this event to seek partnerships and collaboration with like-minded corporations, academia, and industries.
Look East Policy (LEP) was officially announced on February 1982, and 2023 marked the 40th years of LEP long history and relationship between Malaysia and Japan. This prestigious event was officiated by Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Liew Chin Tong, after the welcoming speech by the Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, His Excellency Takahashi Katsuhiko and the President of Alumni Look East Policy Society (ALEPS), Isrami Ismail.
A total of 12 local and Japanese companies received the Look East Policy Award, which covered 9 categories in Education Establishment Award, High Employment LEP Members Award, New Investment Award, Suburban Area Investment Award, Successful Retail and Service Award, Long Establishment Award, High Investment Award, Advanced Technology Transfer Award and LEP Member Inspirational Entrepreneur Award. The representatives from UTM were the Pro Vice-Chancellor of UTM Kuala Lumpur, Prof. Ts. Dr Abd Latif bin Saleh, Dean of MJIIT, Prof. Ts. Dr Ali bin Selamat, professors, and lecturers from MJIIT.
