The Language Academy of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has been running an English language immersion programme in collaboration with Japan’s schools for a number of years. This year, Ritsumeikan Keisho High School has expressed interest in implementing a robotics program from UTM. Therefore, Ritsumeikan Keisho Oversea Study Trip took place at UTM over the course of six (6) days starting form 19th until 24th December 2022.

Accordingly, STEM-RBTK team from Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE) was given one slot for one (1) day in December 20th 2022 to launch a programme related to Internet-of-Thing (IoT) robots, namely, IoT Robotic Challenge 2022.

12 students involved in the event. They were equipped with TinkerKit IoT Kit of which they learnt IoT, hands-on using Blynk platform, TinkerKit robot assembly, MIT app inventor, and voice command. At the end of the day, a mini competition was set up. Three best groups received awards.

Through this program, it is hope to increase and expand the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) knowledge and students’ interest through the use of IoT, problem solving and thinking skills, encourage and fostering the  knowledge.
