JOHOR BAHRU, 26 Nov. – Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer, PERSAKA has organized a coding program, Code on Weekend with the topic “Foundation of Python”.
This three-hour event was divided into two sections and held virtually using Webex as a platform with an experienced tutor and School of Computing senior lecturer, Dr. Chan Weng Howe.
Python is one of the most popular and commonly used general-purpose programming languages.
It is a good choice for starters because it is easy to understand and flexible. Python may be applied to a wide range of applications, from web development to machine learning to data science. The use of Python is growing day by day in the industry.
This event was created to inspire attendees to learn more about the Python language and practice themselves with the provided examples in order to link participants with the real-world context.
A total number of 64 participants attended this lesson to learn the Python programming language which can be used to perform machine learning.
Dr. Chan Weng Howe began the lesson by introducing the Python language, explaining the advantages of using it and also the core concept of Python.
He also briefly explained the examples and ensured that participants can follow up to his lesson from time to time.
During the lesson, Dr Chan Weng Howe demonstrated and explained the fundamentals of Python and also guided the participants to code on the spot.
He showed the participants how to do basic programming using Python by focusing on several aspects such as printing output, variable definitions, user input, functions, control structure and data structure.
During the Q&A session, Dr. Chan Weng Howe also provided some advice on how to improve programming skills, the importance of problem-solving skills, and how to expand students’ resume by participating in an online contest.
To summarise, the participants learned the fundamentals of Python, as well as various case studies, such as printing output, create function, and data structure.
This event went over without a hitch, and all of the attendees learned a lot.
