School of Human Resource Development and Psychology (SHARPS), Univerisiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP), Indonesia, had organized an international colloquium with the theme of Positive Psychology in the Digital Era on 16 December 2020.
The international colloquium was conducted under the program of Online Global Classroom, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH) headed by Prof. Dr. Hamdan Said through an online platform, Zoom with 235 participants from Indonesia and Malaysia.
The international colloquium was started with a recitation of Quran verse by a student from UMP and followed by an opening speech by the Dean of FSSH, Prof. Ts. Dr. Zaidatun Tasir to officiate the event. The international colloquium was divided into three subtopics with three speakers from both countries.
The first topic, “Positive Psychology: The Role of Resilience in the Face of Covid-19” was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Aisyah Panatik from SHARPS and the second topic, “Role of ICT for future psychologist” was delivered by Dr. Ana Haziqah A Rashid from SHARPS to continue the session. After that, the last topic, “Adolescent wellbeing and the risk of internet pornography: a protective and supportive approach” was delivered by a speaker from UMP, Dr. Rr. Setyawati.
The question and answer session was then held after all the speakers had shared their topic. Students from both countries were actively asking questions and it was a very good discussion session among the participants and speakers. The session ended with a closing speech by the Dean of Faculty of Psychology, UMP.
It is hoped that there will be more collaborations and colloquium held in the future which will benefit both countries through its sharing and exchanging information on related topics.
