The Hydrological Modelling Workshop and Global Water Security Symposium were held in Newcastle University on 20 – 21 January 2020  and 23 – 24 January 2020, respectively.  The two-day interactive Hydrological Modelling Workshop focused on physically based hydrological modelling using SHETRAN as an application.

This workshop was attended by participants from globally reputed institutions such as Newcastle University, United Kingdom; Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia; Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India; University of Leeds, United Kingdom; Makerere University, Uganda; Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia; Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC), Ethiopia.

The learning outcomes were to gain knowledge of the overall concepts and theory of physically based hydrological modelling and to understand the assumptions and limitations of models in practical applications and decision-making.

On the other hand, the Global Water Security Symposium combines keynotes by eminent speakers from industry and academia with lightning talks by participants and open forum discussions on key 21st-century challenges for the global water sector.

Dr. Zulfaqar Sa’adi was chosen as representative of Malaysia Collaboratory under the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub to participate in the workshop and symposium. Below are some of the photos that were taken during the two events.
