As a continuation of the cooperation and MoU agreement between Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) Indonesia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), an international seminar on Psychology was conducted with the theme “Future Psychology Interaction of Human Behavior, Culture, and Technology to Create Society 5.0”.
The international seminar was conducted on 11th January 2020 at Purwokerto, Indonesia with the involvement of three keynote speakers and participants from Malaysia and Indonesia. There were five representatives from SHARPS UTM involved in the seminar as organizing committee and presenters; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Aisyah Panatik@Abdul Rahman, Dr. Lily Suriani Mohd Arif, Dr. Norashikin Mahmud, Dr. Noraini Rusbadrol, and Dr. Ana Haziqah A Rashid.
Jointly organized by Faculty of Psychology (UMP) and School of Human Resource Development & Psychology (SHARPS), the seminar was aimed to explore issues on (1) obtaining an overview of the society 5.0 to respond more productively to technological and industrial advancements, (2) assessing the role of psychology in empowering individuals and communities in various fields to build society 5.0, and (3) improving local wisdom to build society 5.0.
Three keynote speakers, Dr. Dyah Astrorini Wulandari (senior lecturer of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto), Dr. Wan Mohd Azam Wan Mohd Yunus (senior lecturer of SHARPS), and Dr. Muhamad Sophian (senior lecturer of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak) shared their knowledge with the participants regarding Society 5.0, digital mental health, prospects and challenges for developing countries. The seminar did not only expose participants with knowledge sharing on research, but also provided opportunities among participants to publish their articles and build future research network from both universities.
