Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) rises higher and strengthens its global prominence as the 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings results announced in Nov.

While the main business of UTM is engineering and technology, other subjects, which are Education, Business and Economics and Social Sciences (Arts & Humanitis) are distinctively making the university proud by reaching the higher spots than the previous rankings released in the past year, making UTM being recognized as the no. 1 in Malaysia in the respective subjects.

UTM is ranked 101-125 in Education subject, rising 50 spots from 151-175, symbolizing the university’s and its academicians’ efforts in aspiring the Sustainable Development Goals 4: Quality Education, which has been recognized globally.

According to its website, https://www.timeshighereducation.com/, the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings table for education subjects uses the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators as the overall World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.

It highlights the universities that are leading across education, teacher training and academic studies in education subjects.

This year, they have made a small adjustment to the eligibility criterion for academic staff in the subject tables, which has resulted in more universities being eligible for inclusion.

The university also climbed higher to the 126-150 spot in Business and Economics from its previous rank, 201 – 250 while Social Sciences (Arts & Humanities) mantained its status quo at 201-250.

The THE World University Rankings 2020 includes almost 1,400 universities from 92 countries.
