Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norhayati Ahmad from the School of Mechanical, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) was invited as the workshop speaker at the International Conference on Theoretical Physics and Nonlinear Phenomena (CTPNP 2019) organised by Universitas Negeri Malang from the 9th-10th October 2019 at the Savana Malang Hotel, Malang, Indonesia. The Conference on Theoretical Physics and Nonlinear Phenomena is an annual meeting on theoretical physics and nonlinear phenomena in Indonesia. This conference aimed to facilitate a gathering place for theorists from Indonesia and neighbouring countries to exchange and share ideas. This conference was also intended to motivate young physicists to actively do research in the fields. Following the success of the fifteen previous meetings, the sixteenth one was held on 9th-10th October 2019 in Malang, hosted by the Physics Department of Universitas Negeri Malang in collaboration with the Indonesian Theoretical Physicist Group (GFTI) and Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI). The International Conference was held as a platform to bridging the relationship between UTM and Universitas of Malang. The Department of Physics, Universitas Malang and the School of Mechanical Engineering, UTM are looking forward for future collaboration in the students exchange, knowledge transfer program and research activities in the year 2020.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norhayati was invited to share her knowledge of plasma physics with the forum participants. She demonstrated on the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma application through sustainability processing method in agriculture industries. She also shared her research findings on DBD plasma treatment for rice grains to control and eliminate the rice weevils. This project was in collaboration with Syarikat Faiza Sdn. Bhd. Kawasan Perindustrian Sri Gading, Batu Pahat, Johor. The feedback from conference participants was extremely positive and Dr. Norhayati thanked the CTNP committee for the opportunity given.
