Congratulations to UTM Pagoh academic staff and researchers led by Dr. Cheng Kian Kai for securing an impressive win of two gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the 2nd Research and Innovative Technology Competition (RITEC 2019) organized by Universiti Tun Hussien Onn (UTHM) on 10th September 2019. Medals were presented by Honorable Tuan Haji Aminolhuda Haji Hassan, Chairman of the Education, Human Resources, Science and Technology Committee for State of Johor.
Research project on Symbiotic cube cultivation system for sustainable farming led by Dr. Cheng won gold medal in the Innovative Product Research Category. Meanwhile, Dr. Nicole Leong Hong Yeng won gold medal in the Fundamental Research Category for her research on Carbon flow model of a vegetable farm system.
In addition, a research project on Inhibition of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase activities of Momordica charantia by Dr. Cheng won silver medal while Dr. Nor Zalina secured two bronze medals for her research projects on Preservation of sensory attributes and nutrients of dried chili (Capsicum annum) using pre-treatment for pilot scale vacuum tray dryer (VTD) and Encapsulated probiotic bacteria as additive in animal feed.
