Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) through the School of Computing, Faculty of Engineering organized 2u2i Rubric Validation Workshop located at Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), UTM Kuala Lumpur on 28 June 2019. This workshop gathered all industries that have been involved directly and indirectly with UTM 2u2i Data Engineering programme which include Petronas, TM One, Top Glove Sdn Bhd, Quandatics (M) Sdn Bhd, IJM Corporation Berhad, DHL Asia Pacific Shared Services Sdn Bhd, PPG Coatings (M) Sdn Bhd and Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

A total of 40 participants featuring School of Computing academic staff and industry representatives participated actively in this half-day workshop. The agenda of the workshop includes validation of industrial training and project evaluation rubric, Structured Internship Programme and MoU signing ceremony.

The highlights of 2u2i Rubric Validation Workshop included the Welcome remark by Professor Dr. Abdul Samad Bin Ismail, 2u2i Programme Advisor who addressed 2u2i overview followed by Associate Professor Dr. Roliana Binti Ibrahim, Director of Applied Computing who briefed about UTM 2u2i, Associate Professor Dr. Dayang Norhayati Abang Jawawi, Associate Chair (Academic & Student’s Development) who briefed about rubric and assessment, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Tariq Bin Idris, Coordinator of 2u2i Industry Linkage who briefed about industrial training assessment, Dr. Aryati Bakri, Coordinator of 2u2i Industrial Project who briefed about industrial project assessment and Mrs. Siti Noratikah Kasmoi from Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) who shared about Structured Internship Programme.



The 2u2i programme requires UTM undergraduates to study in campus for three years and intern in selected industries for another year. The objective of this programme is to provide students with greater exposure to real working experience through more learning time in industries. Besides, this programme ensures the courses, delivery and learning methods offered by university are relevant and conform to the industry needs through industry involvement in curriculum design.
The first cohort of UTM 2u2i Data Engineering will undergo their internship this coming September and expected to graduate in October 2020.
