Sakura Science Plan: UTM and National Institute of Technology, Kagoshima College

Dr. Nurzal Effiyana binti Ghazali from School of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering was awarded with Japan Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (Sakura Science Plan) Grant from Japan Science and Technology Agency in February. The objective of this grant is to introduce active learning activity at National Institute of Technology, Kagoshima College. The activity involved introduction of Problem Based Learning (PBL) for Internet of Things (IoT) project.

 During the PBL activity

Ten UTM students joined Dr. Nurzal Effiyana binti Ghazali for this program. Eight of them are students from School of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and two students from Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics. During the program, the students visited two Japanese companies, Yupiteru Corporation and Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation. During the visit, they were exposed to the Japanese work culture and opportunities to work with Japanese companies.

The students performed two traditional dances which are joget and zapin during the closing ceremony. Students and staff from National Institute of Technology, Kagoshima College really enjoyed the performance.
