Johor Bahru 29 October 2014 -Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Architecture students successfully bagged the first and third prize at the International Green Environment & Building Workshop 2014 held at Faculty of the Built Environment.  Second place  won by students from Universitas Parahyangan, Bandung, Indonesia.

 

The four  days event which took place between 27 and 30 October 2014   was organized by   The Centre for the Study of Built Environment in the Malay World (KALAM)  in collaboration with Malaysian Green Building Confederation  (MGBC), Green  Building Council Indonesia (GBCI), Office of Asset and Development (PHB) UTM and Centre of Real Estate Studies (CRES) UTM.
The workshop participants consists of  undergraduate and post graduates students, participants from various government agency as well as from the private sector. The organizer of  the International Green  Environment & Building workshop  was honoured to have participants from universities in Indonesia particularly Universitas Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT), Manado, Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS),  Makassar,  Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Bandung,  Universitas  Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR), Bandung  and  Universitas Trisakti (USAKTI), Jakarta.

 

The aim  of  the workshop is to increase public awareness  especially to students from both countries Indonesia and Malaysia about the importance of green building  design in the tropical climate region.  The workshop started with a day full of  knowledge sharing from distinguish invited  speakers  such as  Ir Rana Nasir from GBCI, Ir Thirukumaran Jallendran,  Ar Von Kok Leong  and Ar Sarly Adre Sarkum from MGBC and last but not least Ar Razin Bin Mahmood, principal of Razin Architects.

 

Apart from the 3 main prizes, 4 consolation prizes was awarded to students from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS) and Universitas Trisakti (USAKTI) and Universitas Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT)

 

The International Green  Environment & Building Workshop  was officially opened and closed by the Dean of Faculty of Built Environment, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roslan bin Amiruddin.
