The grand ceremony was also attended by many notable dignitaries including the former Prime Minister of Japan Mr Tomiichi Murayama. As part of the visit, UTM and Meiji agreed to extend the existing framework to allow for more staff and student mobility. It is also worth noting that at present, Meiji University hosts the UTM Satellite Office in Tokyo, and vice versa. UTM and Meiji are also working on the Dual Degree programme at MBA and Executive level.

During the two-day event, Prof Zaini also had discussions with Mr Mark Chang, CEO of JobStreet.com and Prof Robert Lowndes, Vice Provost for Global Relations of Northeastern University, USA.

It is suggested that collaborative network should be established with the CEO of JobStreet.com in the form of an MOU with JobStreet for purposes of improving Employers’ Review in relation to our ranking and providing opportunities for global employment for our students.

During the visit, the UTM delegation also gained insights from Meiji University’s initiative to the community. Resulting from Meiji University’s effort, the community has made significant contribution to the university, among which includes active involvement of the alumni (proven by full attendance of alumni during the 130th Anniversary of Meiji University) and close cooperation from the community at large.

UTM plans to conduct similar community activities which would create more awareness among the surrounding community of the various activities conducted by the university including sustainability activities, student activities and other community outreach programmes.
