UNAND Students exposed to learning, teaching and research environment at Faculty of Science UTM

The Faculty of Science (FS) welcomed four international visiting students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Andalas (UNAND), Padang, Sumatera from 30th October 2019 until 5th November 2019. The visit is one of the results due from an agreement (MoU) signed by UTM and UNAND last year on 23 July 2018. Under the MoU, activities related to teaching & learning, research collaborations and students exchange are encouraged between the two universities. The program scheduled for the visitors was organised and hosted by a special Task Force led by Dr. Zarina Mohd Khalid together with Dr. Hang See Pheng, Pn. Wan Rukaida Wan Abdullah and Mr. Mohd Najib Zakaria from the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science.

Scientific Talks and Demonstration by Staff and Student of Faculty of Science at the Petrosains Meet The Expert Program

During the Petrosains Science Festival PlaySmart Johor Bahru 2019, which was held on the 19th and 20th of October 2019, 3 academic staff and 1 PhD student from the Faculty of Science, UTM, gave scientific talks and demonstration during the ‘Meet the Expert Program’. The ‘Meet the Expert Program’ is a collaborative effort between Petrosains and Young Scientists Network – Academy Sciences of Malaysia, with the purpose of celebrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics).

UTM secured RM3.9 M of grant for an Asian-European consortium with UNIBO, the oldest university in Western Europe

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and University of Bologna (UNIBO) collaborated in an Asian-European consortium to improve the effectiveness of research and innovation management in Asian higher education institutions. Established in 1088, UNIBO is the oldest university in the western world. It is the top research university in Italy and is one of the leading academic institutions in Europe. It hosts a community of more than 85,000 students, making it among the largest in Italy. UNIBO and UTM has been in close collaboration since 2017 in an Erasmus+ project, named SPIRE, with UTM as lead coordinator and close to RM3.9 mill of grant awarded by the European Union.

Strengthening and Sustaining Partnerships: UTM Hosts Malaysia’s First International Staff Week 2019

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia hosted its first International Staff Week 2019 from 28 October 2019 to 3 November 2019 on its Johor Bahru campus to strengthen and sustain partnership to benefit participating institutions and its international alliance, the Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net). The International Staff Week 2019 (ISW2019) is the first to be hosted by an international university in Malaysia, and it saw the registration of 37 participants from 19 institutions from 10 countries, with the furthest being from Czech Republic.
