KUALA LUMPUR, Jul 30 – The Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in collaboration with FOURDIGIT Inc., Japan, successfully organised the FOURDIGIT Service Design Bootcamp 2026 from 27 to 30 July 2026 at MJIIT, UTM Kuala Lumpur.

The four-day programme brought together 10 students from different academic backgrounds, giving them the opportunity to learn, collaborate and experience the world of Service Design.

The bootcamp introduced students to the fundamentals of Service Design, a human-centred approach that combines business, technology and design to create better products and services.

Guided by experienced facilitators from FOURDIGIT, a design company that works alongside clients from concept to execution, students gained valuable insights into how design thinking is applied in real industries to solve everyday challenges.

The programme was designed to be highly interactive. Students first attended engaging lectures before putting their knowledge into practice through hands-on workshops and group discussions.

Working in teams, they learned how to understand users’ needs, create personas, map customer journeys, identify problems, generate ideas and develop practical solutions before presenting their final concepts at the end of the bootcamp.

One of the highlights of the programme was the opportunity for students from different engineering and technology disciplines to work together. The multidisciplinary teams encouraged participants to share different perspectives, communicate effectively and learn from one another, skills that are essential in today’s workplace.
