JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 27 – The International Student Society (ISS) Yemen successfully organized a five-day Quran Memorization and Revision Program during the mid-semester break at Masjid Sultan Ismail, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), from 23 to 27 November 2025. The initiative aimed to offer students a spiritually uplifting environment where they could reconnect with the Holy Quran away from academic pressures. With more than fifty participants, the program brought together students from various backgrounds, all sharing a dedicated commitment to memorizing, revising, and strengthening their relationship with the Quran.
The program officially began with an inspiring opening lecture delivered by Hasan Ahmed Hasan Mohammed, the Program Director. In his address, he emphasized the profound significance of the Quran in the life of every Muslim and highlighted the importance of consistent revision and preservation of memorized verses. He reminded attendees that the people of the Quran are those whom Allah honors and elevates, and that revisiting one’s memorization is essential to maintaining clarity, spiritual discipline, and connection with divine guidance. His words set a strong foundation for the week, motivating students to maximize the benefits of the program throughout the mid-semester break.

After the opening session, participants were divided into tailored learning circles based on their memorization levels. This organized approach ensured that each student received appropriate guidance, whether they were reviewing a few chapters, revising larger portions, or striving to memorize new surahs. Sessions were conducted daily after the Fajr prayer and continued until 8:30 in the morning, creating a serene and focused early-morning routine that helped students start their day with purpose and tranquility.
At the conclusion of each morning’s activities, ISS Yemen arranged a communal breakfast for all participants. Beyond providing nourishment, this daily gathering fostered a strong sense of brotherhood, unity, and mutual support among attendees. Many participants noted that the breakfast sessions became a cherished part of the program, allowing students to build friendships and strengthen their sense of belonging within the UTM community.

The final day of the program concluded with a special appreciation ceremony honoring both students and instructors. Awards and certificates were presented to the most committed participants who showed consistency throughout the five days, as well as to the teachers and volunteers who contributed their time and effort. The ceremony served not only as recognition of their dedication but also as encouragement for participants to continue their engagement with the Quran beyond the program.

ISS Yemen extended its heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers, teachers, and students who supported the smooth execution of this program. The society expressed hope that initiatives like this will continue to inspire UTM students to remain connected to the Quran and engage in activities that foster both spiritual growth and personal development.
