SKUDAI, May 26 – The Graduate Research Exhibition (GREx) 2025, a key event during Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) Research Carnival Month (RCM) 2025, successfully concluded, providing an inspiring platform for postgraduate students to showcase their diverse research work. Organized by the School of Graduate Studies (SPS) in collaboration with the Postgraduate Student Society (PGSS), the event underscores UTM’s commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and industry relevance.

Held from April 11 to May 26, 2025, GREx attracted significant participation from postgraduate researchers across various fields, highlighting the university’s broad research portfolio, which includes cutting-edge engineering solutions and groundbreaking social science studies. Participants presented their research through posters, enabling them to communicate complex findings in a visually engaging and accessible format. The extended duration of the exhibition provided ample opportunities for faculty members, industry professionals, and fellow students to engage with the research presented, fostering meaningful academic discussions and potential collaborative opportunities.

A rigorous evaluation process, conducted by a panel of distinguished faculty members and industry experts, recognized outstanding poster presentations in three main categories: Engineering, Science and Technology, and Social Sciences. The evaluation criteria included research originality, methodological rigor, practical applications, and presentation quality.

The Best Poster awards were announced across these three categories. In the Engineering category, the award went to Ng Hock Seng, Nurul Najihah Ishaq, and Nurul Izzati Darul Zaman. In the Science & Technology category, the winners were Mohd Shahar Abdullah, Nurfazira Mohammed Fadil, and Wan Nurain Nabilah Noranuar. The award for the Social Science category was presented to Hanis Nazurah Abu Hassan, Mohd Shahrul Suondoh, and Rafizah Zahri.

Their work exemplifies the high quality of research being conducted by UTM’s postgraduate community and reflects the university’s commitment to nurturing future thought leaders and innovators. The winning presentations demonstrated exceptional research methodology, innovative approaches to contemporary challenges, and significant potential for real-world application.

GREx 2025 was a cornerstone activity of Research Carnival Month, which also featured the Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition, industry forums, academic workshops, and specialized webinars. This comprehensive program created a vibrant research ecosystem that celebrated academic achievement while building bridges between academia and industry. The event provided invaluable networking opportunities for emerging researchers, allowing them to connect with peers, mentors, and potential research collaborators from diverse academic backgrounds.

As UTM continues to strengthen its position as a leading research university, initiatives like GREx are essential in promoting research visibility, fostering cross-disciplinary collaborations, and preparing the next generation of scholars to meet the demands of an increasingly complex global landscape. The university’s ongoing investment in research excellence ensures that events like GREx will continue to act as catalysts for innovation and academic growth.
