Bridging Knowledge and Practice: Enhancing Research Proposals through Targeted Workshops

JOHOR BAHRU, May 28 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) Language Academy (LA) organized a comprehensive one-day workshop titled “Proposal in Progress: Writing Chapters 1 to 3 with Purpose” on Wednesday. The event was specifically designed to assist postgraduate students in the social sciences who were in the process of developing their thesis proposals.

The workshop was held at Seminar Room 2, D06, Language Academy, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FSSH), UTM. The session was led by Dr. Noor Mala Ibrahim from the Language Academy, a specialist in academic writing and research communication. Participants engaged in a hands-on learning experience that included practical tips, real-world examples, and expert insights aimed at enhancing the quality and clarity of their proposal chapters.

This event targeted postgraduate students working on Chapters 1 to 3 of their thesis proposals, which form the foundational elements of their research projects. The workshop aimed to help students craft focused, meaningful, and academically rigorous chapters, thereby strengthening the overall quality of their proposals. Attendees learned how to articulate research aims, define objectives, develop comprehensive literature reviews, and outline methodologies with purpose and precision. The program provided them with valuable tools to structure their chapters effectively, improve their academic writing skills, and communicate their research intentions clearly and confidently.

This workshop offered a valuable opportunity for postgraduate students to enhance their thesis writing skills, develop confidence in proposal formulation, and receive guidance from an expert in academic communication.
