Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kagoshima College, Japan

A renewal memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kagoshima College, Japan for a joint development on international collaboration in research, specifically to tab with the initiatives of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in the transformation of SDGs implementation for Higher Education Institution (HEIs) was held recently.

UTM Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Bin Ismail said, with this MoU, the emerging advancement of Industry Revolution 4.0 that lead towards the computational technology that offers advance management and analysis can be established. Furthermore, through this collaboration between UTM and NIT, both institutions acknowledge the importance of engagement through activities in teaching, learning and training. Through this MoU, both universities have agreed to pursue common interest through four initiatives: enhancing the research and development, improve curriculum formulation with the student and staff mobility exchange programs, bridging knowledge sharing for industry-academia and elevating the high impact research with the international relations with both countries as a whole.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Shozo Himuro, the President National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kagoshima College added, with the emphasis on in-demand Industrial 4.0 skills and hands-on practice, this joint development will provide both institutions, students and staff with the required skills and knowledge in digital and digitization especially with the current need of digitalisation, and digital technologies readiness in curriculum. Having the five (5) years of successful collaborations and varieties of program held between UTM and NIT, staff and students, this continuing collaboration is aimed to continue the the commitment for both institutions to establish a closer collaboration and ties to leverage on each other’s strengths to spearhead translational research in engineering.

The MoU document was signed by UTM’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Bin Ismail and Prof. Dr. Shozo Himuro, the President National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kagoshima College, in an online ceremony via Microsoft Teams, organised by the Faculty of Engineering, UTM, Johor Bahru, on 29th November 2021.
