Collaboration Between UTM and Kolej Vokasional Kota Tinggi to Nurture Design Process into TVET

The Medical Device and Technology Center (MEDITEC) and the Engineering Design Research Group (EDRG) under the School of Mechanical Engineering have signed a Letter of Agreement (LoA) with Kolej Vokasional Kota Tinggi (KV KT), Johor in Kota Tinggi on 10 March 2019. The UTM delegation headed by MEDITEC Director, PM Dr. Ardiyansyah Syahrom and Director of EDRG, Dr. Jamaludin bin Hj. Mohd. Taib were greeted by the Director of Kolej Vokasional Kota Tinggi, En. Md. Eshak bin Khamis.

The agreement signing ceremony had been witnessed by high school college vocational staff and students during the college weekly assembly. This event marked the formalization of the collaboration program (CP) between UTM and KV KT. Through CP, UTM and KV KT will collaborate in the area of technology transfer, sharing of knowledge and best practices. Specifically, the main agenda of this collaborative work is to nurture design process into TVET. A few days before signing the LoA, both parties had carefully identified several areas in all TVET courses and programme to adopting the design process. As an initial work, the design process will be introduced to their final year project which was conveniently called as PTA. During the meeting after the LoA signing , it was agreed that UTM will contribute scientific and technological exchanges particularly in the field of engineering design. The contribution will include conducting series of design process workshop, developing the TVET curriculum, exchanging of scholarly publications, and carrying out student enrichment activities.
