26th November 2017 – FKA team rewarded third place in Malaysian Concrete Canoe Competition (MCCC) 2017 which was held at the Tasik Varsiti Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 25th to 26th November 2017. MCCC 2017 is a 2 days event with carnival element and atmosphere organize by American Concrete Institute – Malaysia Chapter.
In this competition, participant are to construct concrete canoe within rules and regulations to pass the test of floating when submerged in the water and to be able to compete in men’s and women’s endurance races, men’s and women’s sprint races and co-ed sprint race. This event was organized to make opportunities for civil engineering students to gain hands on, practical experience and leadership skills.
FKA team which consist of ten undergraduate students represented by Adrian Tay Ban Yung, Yue Weng Yew, Royce Gan Kuok Pin, Chew Wei Xiong, Nurul Hasanah Binti Hassan, Solehah Binti Solahuddin, Nurathirah Binti Mohd Fasli, Amera Adleen Binti Aminuddin, Siti Aminah Binti Noor Aidy and Muhammad Naim Bin Mohamad Radzi. The teams were supervised by Dr. Abdullah Zawawi and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohd Sam from Construction Material Research Group (CMRG), Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTM. Also, was assisted by Mr. Nawawi Salleh, Mr. Raja Ezar and Mr. Haqim from Structure and Materials Laboratory, FKA.
