JAKARTA, July 3 – To enhance the renewable energy transition in Southeast Asia, the Institute of Future Energy (IFE) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has partnered with two prominent Indonesian institutions: Universitas Pertamina and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). This collaboration involves the Centre of Hydrogen Energy (CHE) and the Centre of Electrical Energy Systems (CEES) at UTM.
The UTM delegation was led by Prof. Aishah Abdul Jalil and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Norzanah Rosmin, who are the Directors of CHE and CEES, respectively. They were accompanied by a team of distinguished researchers and academics, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rafiziana Md Kasmani, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roshafima Rasit Ali, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anwar Johari, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Nurfatehah Wahyuny Che Jusoh, Ts. Dr. Norazliani Md. Sapari, and Ts. Muhammad Abdul Razak.
At Universitas Pertamina, the delegation was warmly received by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Tota Simatupang, Dean of the Faculty of Infrastructure and Industrial Technology, along with his esteemed team. During their visit to ITB, they were hosted by Prof. Dr. Ir. Hermawan Judawisastra, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Syarif Hidayat from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics.

During the visit, all participants engaged in a meaningful exchange of knowledge regarding ongoing research, cutting-edge technologies, and the development of potential projects centred on hydrogen, solar, and other renewable energy solutions. The discussions also explored broader opportunities for academic collaboration, including student exchange programs, staff mobility, joint grant applications, collaborative teaching, and co-organised seminars and international conferences.

This visit is anticipated to greatly enhance the foundation for future collaborative research under IFE UTM. The ongoing efforts of both CHE and CEES will play a crucial role in this process. We aim to strengthen institutional partnerships, expand joint research opportunities in hydrogen and electrical energy systems, and create pathways for impactful innovations, academic exchanges, and regional leadership in renewable energy development.
