KULAI, May 7 – The Faculty of Management at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in collaboration with the Kulai District Education Office (PPD Kulai), successfully organised a workshop titled “Program Kecerdasan Buatan untuk Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran pada Sekolah-Sekolah Daerah Kulai” on 7 May 2025.
This full-day workshop, held at the Faculty of Management, brought together 20 teachers from various schools throughout the Kulai district. The goal was to raise awareness and understanding of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be used to support and enhance teaching and learning.
As education continues to evolve in the digital age, AI technologies are increasingly recognised for their potential to assist with teaching tasks. These tasks include recommending relevant instructional materials, providing personalised learning experiences tailored to individual student needs, and offering feedback on student assessments. AI also empowers teachers to adopt more innovative and effective methods of teaching and learning.
The workshop included an interactive hands-on session facilitated by experienced academic staff from UTM. During this session, teachers engaged in a comprehensive exploration of AI applications relevant to their teaching practices. Specifically, they were introduced to ChatGPT as a teaching companion to help plan lessons more efficiently and creatively, as a student learning companion to encourage self-directed learning and deepen understanding, and as an assessment companion to support comprehensive evaluation. The activities were carefully designed to assist teachers in fulfilling their tasks effectively.

The workshop was held under the theme “EduAI: AI Tak Ganti Cikgu, Tapi Boleh Bantu Cikgu,” emphasising that AI is a tool to support, rather than replace, teachers. This initiative was funded through the Knowledge Transfer Program at the Faculty Level (KTP@Fakulti) grant and was led by Dr. Halina Mohamed Dahlan from the Faculty of Management.
Adding significance to the event, Tn. Hj. Razali Tamadi, the Kulai District Education Officer, officiated the closing session and presented certificates to the participants. Also present at the event was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahadi Bahari, the Deputy Dean (Research, Innovation, and Development) of the Faculty of Management. Their attendance highlighted the strong collaboration between UTM and PPD Kulai and the growing importance of AI adoption in education.
In his remarks, Tn. Hj. Razali provided positive feedback on the workshop’s relevance and practical value. He noted its potential to empower teachers with AI knowledge and tools to meet the evolving demands of today’s educational landscape.

This workshop demonstrates UTM’s ongoing commitment to knowledge transfer and community engagement. It also emphasises UTM’s strategic role in promoting educational innovation and digital transformation, particularly through the integration of AI in teaching and learning. This initiative supports the development of future-ready teachers who are equipped to navigate and lead in the evolving landscape of education.
